Waiting room

(1/10/21)

After a day at home sorting out various things (finance/insurance etc.) for the new car, G & I finally ventured out when it was slightly cooler. We took the Peugeot to a nearby garage for a steam wash so that the new owner gets a clean car.

There's always an air-conditioned waiting room and today, it had this young Emirati man in it with his oud and speaker! He was on a phone call when we went in, and as soon as he finished, he picked up his oud, tuned it, and then started to play and sing for us!!!

We got chatting and he told us that he learnt to play last year during lockdown. He played really well and had a lovely voice. He could easily be a busker, except the locals here never do anything like that. Further chatting revealed he was hightly educated, in fact, he had a PhD! Nice when you can have brains and natural talent. :))

In typical Emirati hospitality style, he went into the shop and bought us Turkish coffee, chilled water and Kit Kat bars! We left with an extremely clean car, inside and out, and so happy for the experience of that meeting.

We got home in time to catch the live stream of the Opening Ceremony of EXPO 2020. I have to admit, I couldn't fully concentrate on it because G was on a phone call and I had to work on a new video. Number 115 finally got posted today.
