Memories

These are the journal entries one of our exchange daughters left us years ago. As Tamara's year in our family was ending, our beautiful, sweet Italian daughter looked back over her diary and selected more than 30 entries to transcribe onto cards and place in envelopes that were dated and then laid in a lovely basket with dried flowers. Each year we pull out her memories on the corresponding day and recall our wonderful time together. But at Easter I often cheat, since the date changes. In 2006 it was mid-April. Today I pulled that card and reread her impressions of our egg hunt in New York at my father's house.

We've hosted many exchange students, all have been special and brought joy and perspective and sometimes challenges to our lives. All have touched us. But this particular gift remains one of the most unique and enduring.

On another note had a lovely evening tonight with British friends who joined us for Raclette. We dined and chatted well past midnight and now the Easter Bunny has work to do...
