Sgwarnog: In the Field

Bronze Age Blipbear

Blipbear and Kiwi had a comfortable first night with us, tucked up in a specially prepared bed next to 5yo.

Being energetic types, they wanted to explore the neighbourhood so we headed out of the garden gate onto Baildon Moor, where we trod carefully around the snow filled bell-pits looking for ancient cup and ring markings. As we climbed higher the returning skylarks sang out.

"Wait until you see the one that looks like a teddy bear," I said, "it has three deep cups and some fine peck marks." Blipbear and Kiwi were so impressed that they elected to have their blip of the day in that spot.

After that, they insisted on visiting the top of the moor, where they wanted to sit on the triangulation pillar made famous in so many @PaulFS blips. It may not be as impressive as Blipbear's ascent of Skiddaw with @trevorearthy and @biblinros, but there are fine views across five counties.

Descending the moor, Blipbear pointed out Salt's Mill, which he'd visited last week with @yearofhappy. We stopped to visit some new born lambs and to feed the cats-in-law before returning home for lunch.

Further images of today's adventures, including the trig point and the sheep encounter, can be viewed in my blipfolio.

For those who haven't met Blipbear before, his journey around the world started on St. David's Day in 2012 when @jenceng sent him on his travels. He travelled around the UK for the rest of 2012 before heading out to New Zealand, returning with a new companion, Kiwi, in the company of @Jeanneb53 who is today celebrating her third blip birthday.

Blipbear is currently visiting as many West Yorkshire blippers as he can, but hopes to be heading off to the USA in the summer.
