Who left the window open?

This is a view of a kitchen of the local Saasveld Offices at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University campus.

Since previous incidences where damage was done, windows and doors were to be kept closed and locked when vacating the building or the offices.
These offices are occupied by various companies, some new, and perhaps the severity of the consequences when windows/doors are left open, was not widely known.

During the past long weekend, a window was left open through which access was gained by perpetrators who scavenged, damaged, and caused havoc to the extent that you would not like to know, or smell.

The intent was not to steal, or carry away, it was more that of looking for food, anything edible ....

Unfortunately, many of the office workers did not take the trouble to lock their offices when they left on Thursday afternoon - just before the long week-end commenced.

On entering, the perpetrators opened every door that they found unlocked, opened drawers and cabinets and strewed the contents on the floor, looking for something ...

In the kitchen they must have feasted and overindulged on whatever was edible. They were clever enough to get lids off of containers, open packages/cartons of milk, even emptied the trash bin. Along their spree, they entered the toilets where they vomited the excesses of their indulgence ... as if they knew where to go?
Throughout this melee of devastation, they had regular bowel movements (probably when they panicked) and bladders were emptied at will ...

This carnage continued throughout this building and the only spaces that were safe, were the offices that were locked.

These offices stood empty for four days (long week-end), and I shall not elaborate on the revolting smell and the stink that welcomed the returning staff this morning ....

And the perpetrators? - The local indigenous forest is their home, and when they come to the campus, they seem very cute: cavorting, rolling, tumbling, picking fleas from each other ... yes, the tiny apes and baboons are cute to watch, but beware, once inside a building they cause carnage of which the extent is hard to believe ..

Although the locked offices were spared the devastation, the smell permeated every nook and cranny - a grim reminder.
