Packed To The Gunwales

The logistics that went in to today's deliveries was truly impressive.
There was the usual sourcing, preparing, cooking and packing of the meals  (3 per person) ... including the special dietary needs. Added to that were the gift bags for each child in the household - each one marked up with name and age (new pyjamas and a selection box).
Trying to pack the car and keep the correct goodie bags with the meals was a nightmare (there are quite a few households with multiple children).
I also had several new drop offs to try and fit into the route without adding too many miles.

It was four hours before I got back to The Larder ..... with a handful of  deliveries needing to be sorted out. Two of them (new ones) were not in the town they were meant to be, there was another new one which for for reason had been split into two bags and had become separated from each other (not found out until a lot later when one had been delivered)and there were a couple of kids bags which didn't marry up to the names /ages in that house.
After some check ups in the admin systems it was worked out where the ones for the 'wrong' towns should go.
I said that I would go out after I had had lunch and deliver those two and the 'separated' meals and Debbie was going to sort out the other stuff.

So, after lunch, SWMBO joined me and off we went to the far reaches of the County.
First stop was to drop off the separated meals ....... The 'trades' button on the block of flats wasn't working (out of hours!) and nobody in the entire block was answering their intercom.
Second stop ..... No answer. According to his next door neighbour he had just gone out. Instead of leaving it on the doorstep in the rain he suggested taking it in for him. Fair enough, we know where it went if the guy doesn't get it.
Third stop .......... The Council at their usual rock bottom best have totally cocked up the numbering system. Sat Nav took us to the street  and well over 50 houses there were all odd numbers. We were looking for an even number. I asked two women and it turned out they were also looking for even numbers. I asked two different residents at different addresses and they had no idea where the even numbers were. We drove around and I noticed (in tiny writing) on another road sign a 'Leading To' the road I wanted so I turned down there - and then had to turn into another road before getting to the even numbers ...... nowhere near the odd numbers. After finding the right address it turns out the woman doesn't stay there and they had never heard of her. She has also not getting a phone number or e-mail address on her application for meal assistance.

Not a successful trip out I have to say.
