Terns and gulls.....
.....out for the day until the tide turns, then they'll return to the island.
Gorgeous summer day!
Daughter E and I took an amble along the beach mid-morning. It was warm, 27C, with a slight breeze, pleasant as the sea swirled between our toes, cooling and refreshing. Surfers were out, paddle boarders, swimmers jumping over waves, some young ones on kayaks in the estuary while others were enjoying picnics and sunbathing.
Life guards were cruising along the coastline in the life guard boat with an watchful eye, I'm horrified to say there have been many drownings New Zealand wide this summer.
It felt soo good to be back at the beach with camera in hand, there's more in extras: calm at the river mouth (I adore the colours of the sea), a paddle boarder heading into the estuary from the river mouth, spotted shags.
Happy Monday everyone :)
