Unfurling

A tight fist opens
With nurture by warmth and light.
Slowly unfurling.

A glorious spring day, it was good to get out in the garden and feel the sun on my back.

Although this looks almost like a sea anemone stretching out its tentacles, it is actually a bud on the Tree Peony, which is gradually taking over it's part of the garden. It will open to huge green leaves and showy flowers. I planted it years ago and for the first few years it just sat there, an unimpressive brown twig with a few leaves. Then it obviously got it's roots down and is now about 5ft tall and wide. I keep meaning to cut it back, but I do rather like it!
