Vennel

This is the Vennel leading down to the Grassmarket in Edinburgh. A Vennel is a term used for a pathway between buildings, and this one passes by Brown's Place on the right. As you can see, this particular pathway is a steep one, and is a cascade of steps. It's been another day of on and off brightness as far as the weather goes. I just managed to catch a break in the cloud for this one. Taken early afternoon, on my way to the opticians!

I'm afraid that if anyone wants to see any detail in this picture you're going to have to take the large view - portrait images don't lend themselves to this format very well.
