Buttercup
Another wet flower, heavy with raindrops - buttercup this time; so sodden you can't even see the cupped shape of its flowerhead very well.
Buttercup is an unassuming little flower so it seems fitting that buttercup flower essence promotes self-worth. It may not be the biggest, most beautiful flower in the countryside but it's perfect just as it is - an important message for all of us!
Buttercup helps you realise that true self-worth comes from within and not from how others see you. While it's lovely to get recognition and compliments from others, we can't rely on that praise to feel validated. If we need other people to feel good about ourselves, what happens when there is no praise or indeed if there's criticism?
Feelings of not being good enough often stem from childhood, when negative criticism from family or school can be absorbed very deeply.
In adulthood, distorted feelings of self-worth can be manifested in two very different ways, both of which are helped by buttercup. Buttercup helps people with such low expectations that they don't expect good things to happen to them. Buttercup also helps people who drive themselves very hard to prove that they're good enough. So when you expect the best from life but don't have to prove that you're the best to anyone else, you've learnt the message of buttercup.
