Comfrey

This is one of three bits of Comfrey given to us by a friend last summer. It died off over the winter, but is now growing fast, and when the clumps get big enough we'll cut the stems, soak them in water and use the liquid for manure... at least I think that's what my saved pdf says to do.

An hour's drive today to the nearest decent (that's a joke) DIY store to get some better steps for the swimming pool and a new pool filter and pump. Needless to say we couldn't find what we were looking for so I went and found someone to help, and then we purchased what we thought was a filter and pump. We were told that the pool steps had to be ordered online.

One lunch and two hours on the beach* later we set off for home, i.e. another hour's drive back, only to find that the big box only contained a pool sand filter and not the pump as well. Steve courageously opted to phone Leroy Merlins, and apparently that make of filter doesn't come with a pump, so although that particular make is supposed to be very good, it still seemed a lot of money to us for half of the set-up. We do have a pump which should be ok, time will tell, but it was all a bit of a disappointment.

*The sea was quite a reasonable temperature. I only put my feet in, but Steve actually went for a quick swim.
