Tulipa kolpakowskiana

One of the early flowering species tulips. A dwarf, only 15-20cm high in flower, brightening a raised bed. There have been flowers in this bed for most of the year, in part thanks to the cold weather which meant that snowdrops and irises lasted for many weeks but also this is testimony to the humble bulbs which can provide colour and interest when much of the garden still sleeps.
