Bressay

This morning we took the 10:00 ferry from Lerwick to Bressay. The crossing takes  5 or so minutes. We set off to walk to the lighthouse, a distance of about three miles. I did this walk in 2019 and blipped the lighthouse then so today it is relegated to an extra.

The main is a house which caught my eye with water round it and the folds of the land on mainland Shetland behind. We were caught in a couple of squalls but on the whole the weather was really pleasant. Bressay is a lovely island and the wildflowers are abundant. We saw many oystercatchers and some curlews. They weren't pleased to see us so we hurried by. There were butterflies and bees about, ponies, cattle, sheep,  some lovely gardens and productive looking plots.

The collage extra includes a bird hitching a ride on an adolescent sheep. I'd be grateful for help with identifying the bird. Thanks :-))

Today is G's last day and at 5:30pm she will be heading off on tonight's  boat bound for Aberdeen. Her time with us  has flown by and we will miss her company.
