One Drop

Today we traveled to China, India and Japan and were back home in time for the afternoon farmers' market. The larger city of San Jose is about a 45 minute drive from our town, and while there are no real old-time neighborhoods like Chinatown or Little Italy, there are ethnic shopping malls that count as mini-vacations. At our first stop, we had our choice of various regional restaurants, then possible visits to the tea shop, herbalist, the giant supermarket, snack shops, a bakery, a jeweler and an eyeglass store--all in one mall, and all in Chinese. A brief drive and we were in India: another huge supermarket catering to a completely different palate, several restaurants, and an ice cream place with exotic flavors. A couple more miles brought us to Japan: fascinating bookstore, another bakery, and yet another immense supermarket filled with colorful labels that we couldn't read but enjoyed nonetheless. It is a treat for us to wander these places, discovering new foods and bringing home new ingredients.

This image has nothing at all to do with our adventure. Can you guess what it is?
