Crayfish for lunch - pukeko with a beakful

A large native bird also called a purple swamp hen, in the estuary of the Heathcote/Avon Rivers, feeding on the mud flats as the tide turns. I'm not sure if it's eating a fresh water crayfish or a salt water one? Never seen one eating one of these before.
