Orvieto, Rome and stay-at-home

The heat today was 38 at 6pm. Mr C and I had to retreat to our air-conned room for a couple of hour’s siesta around midday.

In the morning he drove #3 daughter to the train at Terni with Ella and Nathaniel. They went to the colosseum, forum etc. She’s been to Rome several times in the summer but this was the hottest by far. mr C had gone to meet them at the station. They’ll be bushed after a long day and then 1.5 hours in the train.

#2 and co drove Orvieto. They enjoyed the cathedral where a choir was singing. (Daughter used to go with the Suffolk youth choir to Europe to sing in Notre Dame and other famous churches)and booked a tour of the Etruscan caves. The boys seemed enthralled and listened well to the guide.

The third part of the collage was my destination with my book. I have finished The Great Circle - a great holiday read. I didn’t swim far today - i just went in the pool to cool off then retreated to the shade or into the house.
