Breakfast

Never has a thermos of tea and a pot of porridge tasted so good! Yes dear reader I was awake at 5am alarm set for 5.15 and on my way to Castlehaven for the dawn swim and pilgrimage. What a truly fantastic experience. Conor, his wife, his daughter and two friends made up the group and first we walked through the incredibly lush glen to the holy well dedicated to St Barrahane (the very one you went to recently Veronica). It holds a cure for sore eyes, and is frequented by fishermen to protect them from sea journeys - note buoy. Then we retraced our steps, disrobed and plunged into the sea! We had to wear safety buoys quite nice to have a quick rest - and we swam out for miles!  Back for breakfast which tasted amazing and I eventually stopped shivering after two cups of tea!  Conor was an engaging story teller and the craic was mighty. He knew who I was was and he also knew who I am meeting tomorrow!
Should you fancy one of his tours - you can walk, swim, cycle - check out his website
The strand was surprisingly busy - someone doing yoga, and a good few swimmers passing through, plus kayakers and rowers. All go, what a glorious day.
