A weather eye

A wet and windy day so there wasn’t a lot done out of doors apart from a brief sortie to pick up a paper. I kept an eye on the boat from upstairs. And a fair bit of online shenanigans - we have a notion that a villa holiday next summer with the extended person group could be a runner. Getting dates to align is the main challenge. 
Out in the real world, Ms Truss had decided to do a round of local radio stations to sell her plan. Let’s just say, she’s not a great communicator. This is not a surprise. (Long pause). This.is.not.a.surprise. Angela Rayner’s verdict said it all - Liz Truss has finally broken her long painful silence with a series of short painful silences. She has quickly become an object of ridicule.  
Later, Sidney, the film of the long life of Sidney Poitier. A really terrific story - how he got to where he did against all the barriers in his way from his origins on Cat Island was quite stunning. Walking block after block in the dark with a police car driving behind him and being told that if he’d turned round once they’d shoot him. Sheesh, we don’t know we’re born.
