Wild Garlic

After partaking of our monthly free coffee at the garden centre we made another attempt at the walk from Newbattle, upstream by the River South Esk.

We walked as far as Lothian Bridge on the A7, (where the long railway viaduct crosses the river) and back on the opposite bank, through woodland in its finest spring foliage. Wild garlic (ramsons) gave off its pungent aroma amid bluebells, stitchwort and sweet woodruff growing in the dappled shade.
