Still in Winter's Grip

For much of our ride up the line this afternoon, there were little signs of Spring.  Posies of primroses, the haze of swelling buds, pussy willow.   It has been a cold winter here and where North facing slopes tower above and sunlight rarely pierces, impressions of Winter still remain.   The line through the woods below Dolgoch is one such place.

A nice ride up with Mum, Chris and Jamie, my first for six months.  I think at least three of us dozed at some stage though!   A cuppa and a little something sweet at Abergynolwyn cafe and time to chat and reminisce along the way.   Later I cooked a meal for us all and John came round too, he's here for a training weekend on the nearby Corris Railway where he and the family volunteer.

Tired today after yesterday's kitchen marathon but otherwise feeling better than for a while.  Hoping it lasts.
