Tropical Gullane

Katherine's birthday today, so we took her and all her chronically underslept friends to the beach for a picnic. Lovely day at the beach - but very crowded.

On a really busy Sunday at the beach there may be trouble getting a parking space close to the beach path - today there was trouble getting a space in the whole village. We'd taken our car to the beach just because of the amount of luggage (and the number of underslept girls grumpy about having to walk) but we - and about another 70 cars were blocked in by folk who decided the access road was a very convenient place to park.... Luckily we could just drag our grumpy charges home on foot and collect the car later, but I did feel sorry for all the folk from Edinburgh who were stuck there. They're about to install CCTV at the beach because of reported 'riots'. Not surprised with that kind of parking.

Once we dispatched all the girls to their various homes, and Conor was at a friend's birthday party, it was time to assemble and try out Katherine's new bike. Things have certainly changed a bit in the world of bikes since I used to strip mine down. Didn't have a clue how anything worked! Anyway, it seems to have held together, and she's getting the hang of riding it quicker than we expected. If this carries on I may have to get a bike myself to keep up with her!
