Happy Birthday Mister F.

We had a lovely day out around town for Mister F's birthday.  Our Breakfast at Dishoom was completed by a surprise serving of uttapam 'pancakes' with celebration candle!

We popped into the National Library on George IV for a couple of little exhibitions.  In 2019 Ian Rankin donated his archive to the National Library which goes back to his Fife school days in the 1970s.  It was so interesting to see his various notes for the Rebus books.  His early manuscripts show he lived in Arden Street, Edinburgh the place Rankin decided to make Rebus's home.

The other little exhibition, 'Pen Names',  explores the use of them by authors.  I was surprised at how many I was unaware of such as Lewis Grassic Gibbon and Hugh MacDiarmid.

We didn't have a chance to visit the National Museum of Scotland's Ancient Egypt collection before we went our trip so it was good to add even more knowledge today.

Our day was finished off with dinner at The Rabbit Hole in Marchmont, a great local bistro.
