Earth Day

Backblipped on Monday 24/4 for Saturday 22/4.  Went up to my daughter's in the next village to take cards and birthday presents. Cup of tea and a chat and lots of attention from Gladys the GSD who loves to lean on you for attention, but she had been playing in puddles and wet dog smell is not attractive!  Home to change out of wet dog smelling clothes, then off to the Earth Day event at the Congs. I was not sure what to expect but it was really interesting and very well attended.  There was a clothes swap, a toy swap, information from "Plastic Free Bingley" (got rid of the pill blister packs I had forgotten to take to Superdrug), a group from the village horticultural society, a sustainable travel group, a group showcasing eco friendly products such as shampoo bars etc, an arts and craft table and the one I found most interesting a group from the Aire River Trust which monitors "bugs" in local water courses - they had live specimens to watch - the more "bugs" the healthier the water.  They were recruiting new people to help, and friend A took a form to maybe sign up. The arts and crafts table manned by friend H was busy - very interesting to watch some 10 year olds colouring in the oceans and land pictures - some divided up the picture showing where seas will cover land in the future and how fire will devour many areas.  Their knowledge was way better than my own!  My photo is of the cute little bee stickers which were being handed out and also placed on little taffeta bags of "bee bombs" which were given to those who would like them.  An interesting afternoon.
