Sgwarnog: In the Field

Convivial

Convivial relations between Billy Bantam and Theo the Wyvern may have set the tone for the final league game of the regular season at Valley Parade. With a lot at stake it was still a tense afternoon though. An attendance of more that 22500 was City’s largest league crowd of modern times.

Visitors Leyton Orient had already won the League Two championship whereas Bradford City still needed a point to be assured of a play-off spot. It was a closely contested first half which finished with a quick trade of goals just before the break. City probed for a second and Orient always looked sharp on the break, but entering the final quarter of an hour there was a sense that both teams were happy to settle for the point.

City ended the season in 6th and now face a two legged play-off semi-final against 5th place Carlisle United, with the home leg first next Sunday evening. I’ll be there.
