I hope the forecast
is wrong or this will be my
hottest birthday yet!

I was up at 5 tidying up and pushing the recycle bin onto the street for collection this morning. At 6 I left the house for McArthur Island to look for goslings.

I drove in at the east entrance, then took the loop road around to the north side. Several Canada goose families were spaced out along the Rivers Trail. The parents move slowly while escorting the goslings over the grass and through the gardens. The little ones peck the ground constantly. When they get tired of walking, they plunk down in the grass and continue pecking.

I drove over to the south side of the park where I can find marmots and views down to the river. I am concerned that I'm not seeing as many marmots as years before. I wonder if something has happened to the colony.

I parked beside the Xeriscape Garden to walk over to the east side of the slough. It is filled with water from the river now and has beautiful reflections.

I left a quilted heart along the Rivers Trail beside the east slough.

I was home with a take-out breakfast just after 7. I have an appointment for a haircut mid morning, then I will take two quilt tops to the long-arm quilter before lunch. In honour of my birthday, my daughter is serving tea this afternoon.
