Love of Country

Today's subject for me is "love". It's Memorial Day, when we celebrate the men and women who loved their country enough to fight and even die for it.

This gentleman was visiting a loved one, and he appeared to be a veteran of WWII. He is one of the last of his generation.... I incorporated the avenue of flags into the photo...it was lined with vehicles today in a park that we generally have had all to ourselves when we visit.

Al's father served as a paratrooper in the Army and is interred here. It was so moving to see all the headstones and markers, and also to see all the people honoring their military relatives and friends.

My wish would be no more wars that produce new graves and new veterans...but the love of our country is a tangible presence here.

May challenge "love".
