The Seventy Year Old

Singer Sewing Machine required some maintenance today. Pat has used this Clydebank manufactured machine for sixty years having purchased it secondhand from a retiring California Taylor.

When the machine arrived in Scotland, it was a very easy operation to swap the 110Volt motor to a 240 Volt purchased from the Singer Shop in Sauchiehall Street. It must have been easy. I did it!

Nowadays, parts are available through Amazon. Today they will deliver a new LED light and Pat will be back in production.

Very early on in my architecture career I was one of the professional team carrying out the redevelopment of the Singer Factory site at Kilbowie, Clydebank in the early 1980s.
