Water Lily

Time was running out for a blip today, so I went down to the garden pond this evening. The setting sun meant that the pond was in the shade and the water lilies were partially closed-up. The pond is covered by a net which is effective in ensuring the fish do not become a heron's breakfast! I thought initially the net might spoil the image, but the end result was not as bad as expected! You don't always notice the detail in a shot you are taking, especially when you are also cooking supper, and the neighbours teenage son sticks his head over the garden wall, and wants to chat about all things fish! What I hadn't noticed were the flies and the pond skater. I was also interested in how the light on the water had produced a dark, oily sheen.
