Another trig point bagged

After preparing some roast veg I met Katy at the Turks Head from where we drove to near Harbottle to do a walk up to a trig point. Katy has various friends accompanying her on her quest to bag them and today I volunteered.

Just as we arrived at the parking spot the rain came on so we had our picnic lunch in the car. While Katy was getting her boots on I walked up to the gate and saw behind the trees the red flag flying. This meant we couldn’t go through as the army was busy on the Otterburn range.

We drove on to Alnham near where there was another trig point. It was a nice walk up the side of a field but then no way through a small plantation to reach it. Eventually we found a bit of fence with no barbed wire and climbed over. Beyond was a small quarry which had been used as a rubbish tip and at the side, the trig point.

From there it was a quick stroll back downhill via a farm track and back to the car. We were out ages and only walked 3 miles. (I did an extra mile down and up from the village). Only 11,000 steps, but we did climb several fences and sidestep a ford!

Last night we watched Mrs Wilson which I enjoyed.
