Lunch out

at the farmers' market at Mas Rolland, where we buy goats' cheese. Always a great day out, with producers' stalls selling dishes for lunch at long tables along the narrow main street of the tiny village and a jazz band playing. The four of us (the other three visible just behind the musicians here) met a couple of friends and ate with the huge numbers gathered from near and far to eat: charcuterie, assorted tapenades, paella made with locally grown saffron, colombo (Caribbean stew) of kid meat from the farm, grilled sausages, chicken and sautéed potatoes, goats' cheese, of course, and cornets of chestnut purée for dessert, red and rosé wine too.....quite a day. I've never seen so many people at this event before. Sunny and 25+C so it seems that summer is on its way and the narrow street gave shelter from the strong wind. A lovely last whole day here for the young people.

Came home for a siesta to find a small problem - it seems bees were checking out our unused chimney as a possible nesting place and then coming into our bedroom via a small crack in the wall. It looks as though we've dissuaded them....I hope so!
