Derreenataggart 6.10am!

Blipping early having been up since sparrowfart - out of bed at 4.45 and the blackbirds in the garden were already going strong, then straight off to Derreenataggart for the second and final part of my bird survey. A beautiful morning - second choice was a sunrise - with such crisp colours. This is a remote and beautiful spot - my route took me down little lanes full of foxgloves, passed a couple of pungent farms then up and down that lush mountain and partly round the lake fringed with the blond reeds, following the little track you can see below the ruin. Pretty rugged but at least it was dry this time. I passed steaming cows just arising; a skinny fox; a nervous hare, two soft sheepdogs, a herd of curious cattle with fat udders waiting to be milked and a farmer who waved from a hilltop. Lots of birds - wrens and jackdaws most popular. Might be worth biggifying.

Time for a shower and then I may head off to the Crimea - a curiously named townland with spectacular cliff walks. Have a great day everyone.
