More kayaking

Monday 28 August
Laura was working today, but had told us of another place to go kayaking - this time about a 30 minute drive north from Wausau, at Council Grounds state park on the Wisconsin River, though the river is dammed at this point, so it is more like a lake. The name Council Grounds refers to the fact that this area was used for encampments by the native Americans. The morning was partly sunny, but later the clouds rolled in. It was pretty quiet on the lake - just one other family kayaking and one or two pontoon boats.
We ate out in the evening at a new roof top restaurant Laura had heard of, and it was a lovely evening for eating outside.
