Berliner Schnauze Meeting

No not these two, however much the smaller one looks like a Schnauzer. But we are talking about a 2 legged Schnauze without an "r". The saying goes; A Berliner Schnauze is a person that has a strong Berlin accent and complains a lot, is not very friendly and very direct.

Around the corner was Bee-Godfather Peter, who from today on will be known as "MrB" (no relation to Mr Bean) together with two visitors from Berlin and Brandenburg (county around Berlin). Luna was born in Brandenburg and spent some weeks in Berlin. She felt at home straight away: "Juten Morgen! aus Berlin...Auwacka, dit is n Ding!....dit jibs ja janich, du bis jetzt janz weit draußn".

So the good news for Oliver & family (Luna's first parents) who will be visiting us shortly, Luna will still be able to understand you!

MrB's visitors have been coming here for the last 20 years to do some deer hunting in spring and MrB and another local hunter & personality "Bello", go up to Brandenburg in the autumn for some wild pig hunting. I tried to get a Blip but both they and even MrB were too "shy". I was even refused Bliping MrB's 2nd Eicher tractor which was in the garage in the final throws of being restored. In fact he got the licencing papers & number plates for it today. He said I had to wait until he drove over.

So no Berliner Schauze Blip, shame as they were untypically friendly & chatty. I could try taking a secret Blip in the forest when they are hunting but am a bit wary as there is antagonism in Berlin against the "Schwabs" ie people from Swabia , who apparently have landed in swarms in Berlin, setting up loads of businesses and trying to get the Berliners to call bread rolls, "Weck or Semmel" instead of "Schrippen". Swabia is mainly our neighbours in (Baden)-Württemberg (capital Stuttgart) but we live in so called Bavarian Swabia.

This chance meeting happened during our "Mad Dogs & Englishmen go out in the midday sun" 11:00am to 1:00pm walk. Otherwise, not much to report. Did some relocation with the bees as no sign of queen, watered the garden several times and had a nap after a pint of shandy at 2:00pm. Hate to say it: it was hotter than yesterday (nearly 40°C in the shade on terrace), pool is now 27.5°C and Angie complained when she came home - "P** warm". This evening thunderstorms brewed up over the Alps and rolled our way but stayed far enough away so we had the cloud & lightning "show" but no rain. Tomorrow should be even hotter and now humid as well, so big thunderstorms due by Thursday.
