The Pensioner

Christmas Lights

A morning entertaining minky to allow her Dad to take the small boy out and about. Minky’s mother is down in that London on the razzle with her pal, y’see.
And then a brief sad interlude. News arrived that Graham Crawford who was Commodore when I first joined and who was a genial and welcoming guy (though a great exponent of proper yachtie etiquette with the blazer and badge) had passed away. Pretty unexpected. JA and I met up to haul up the flagpoles and get the club flag at half mast. He’d have liked that.
A busy afternoon thereafter for yours truly, wrapping Christmas presents. A bit of sellotape used to be sufficient but I’m aware standards have been raised somehow and lovely ribbons with twirls are expected as a minimum. And then the Christmas cards to be addressed. To ease my pain I shelled out £11.99 to watch Liverpool v Man U on Sky Sports. No goals! Twelve quid and those overpaid superstars can’t even bundle the ball over the line into the net.
