Red Poppy

Our first port of call on the way to Mull was to my stepson and his wife who live at the north end of the Mull of Kintyre. The blooming rhododendron bushes were particularly striking as we journeyed westwards. Whilst most people think of these as a particularly Scottish phenomenon they are, in fact, not native plants at all and are in fact a Victorian import brought from China via Spain. As we arrived late afternoon my blip originally was going to be one of the rhododendron bushes that abound in the village of Whitehouse but the Red poppies won by a short head as my wife really likes these and would like some in our garden.
