Rob Roy Challenge

Another weekend another charity event in the village.

This time it is the Martin Currie Rob Roy Challenge. This years charity partners are Water Aid, Over The Wall and Alzheimer Scotland. The event covers 55 miles of the Rob Roy Way. It commences with a 16 mile walk or run from Drymen to Callander where the participants switch to bikes for a 39 mile cycle to Kenmore.

The Village was heaving with people. We encountered the first of the walkers arriving at the checkpoints and meeting their support people. There was half a dozen or so vintage cars circling the car park looking for parking spaces. There was a group of motorcyclists looking for somewhere to stop and on top of that, with the usual impeccable timing, there was a contractor repairing the pavement just outside the Tourist Information Centre.

This group of walkers was just setting out on the second part of the walk. As you can see they were a bit drookit and it looks like they are going to have similar weather for the rest of the challenge. Dry, humid spells interspersed with heavy rainshowers.

Well, it is summer.
