In celebration of the poppy

I took advantage of one of the sunny intervals to return to the poppy roundabout.

Across a couple of fields, there is an area that is very nearly a full poppyfield. It does have rapeseed but the predominant colour is red. I parked the car at the Pipe Hall Heathland carpark again and walked to the busy roundabout from where you have the best view of the big field.

I was a little surprised to see these two photographers right in the middle of the field with tripods and full gear. I hope they hadn't trodden down the crop or the poppies (but judging by the damage to the grass verge they may well have)
Serious maybe, but thoughtless ?

It's not easy to find big expanses of poppy this year. Over in Whittington, the stunning field seems bereft of poppies. Sadly, there are gorgeous poppies lining the roadsides by the increasingly deserted Whittington Barracks.
