The Mating Rituals …

… are well underway for the Crested Grebes who don’t mind the pouring rain at all. I loved the colour of the pair here which I think must be two of last year’s young ones. It’s possible that this is just winter plumage. The normal colour of the plumage is in the extra where you can see the unusual positioning of the male bird with his feathers really spread out. I think he looks rather magnificent, I couldn’t decide which photo I liked best.
