Railay beach

There's a decent breakfast buffet included with our hotel room. I go for the egg fried rice and vegetables in soy. I then go back for watermelon,  pineapple, and a bizarre pineapple fritter. 

We have time for another hour at the pool (which is busier than usual) before checking our and heading back to the Krabi River View. Then it's onto a long-tail and of for an afternoon's excursion to Railay Beach.

The ride over is lovely with great views of the Krabi sprawl and the distinctive lumpy islands. The jetty at Railay is really long, but we're on the mangrove beach and need to walk over to the tourist beach in the other side. 

They're another "walking street" full of restaurants, tour companies, massage parlours, and all the usual commercial activities. We have lunch and then head out onto the beach. 

It's huge and relatively crowded. There's the constant din of longtail boats coming and going. We find a space at the far end of the beach, soak up some sun, and take a few dips. Then it's time to head back over for our ride back to Krabi.

As we disembark the heavens open for a wonderful tropical rain storm. There's lightning and thunder and water water water. Eventually it subsides and we head out for dinner. Michele has a hankering for Italian - and it's very good. My vegetarian lasagne was amazing. And the house red was very drinkable - even if it was Australian :)
