Journey Through Time

The Poppy and the Bee or Hoverfly

Sadly, somebody made a HUGE mistake when an insecticide was used to spray trees that had aphids on them. They also were in bloom, attracting thousands and thousands of bees to the blossoms in search of nectar. This article tells of the tragedy and what was done about it. I do hope somebody learned their lesson about what type of pesticides to use and how to protect our bee populations. If we lose our pollinators, our agricultural will be up a creek without a paddle.

We went to Shorty's Garden Center today to get a plant for our front landscaping project. We looked all over at their beautiful space. They have done so much lately to enhance their property and it's just a feast for the eyes. We have come up with some ideas for our entryway area, so we shall see where that takes us. This bee was on their lovely poppy.

On a brighter note, we had a lovely time last night, with just our little foursome. And I gotta say, that cake recipe that is on the back of the Hershey's Cocoa powder box is really, really, really good. Easy and yummmmmmy. Next year will be Bill's 70th birthday, so I do believe we can make a bigger event out of the anniversary of his birth and have a fun party. It will also be my aunt's 85th birthday, so....we need to consider that. And they are both in June. Such is life. I think I'll celebrate my 65th birthday next year and begin the process of going backward through time. Sounds like a plan.

Take care my friends. Take care of the bees and they will take care of you. Bee good!!
