Out and About

Borrowdale

If you say you've been to Borrowdale, most people will assume you mean the Borrowdale near Keswick.  But there is Borrow Beck, north of Kendal that winds its way through a valley also called Borrowdale.  This is the Westmorland Borrowdale. The beck rises on Borrowdale Moss and winds its way down to the River Lune near Tebay where there are the remains of a Roman fort.
From the layby on the A6 where the road crosses Borrow Beck at High Borrow Bridge, we climbed up to the cairn on Ashtead Fell to look for the geocache that we couldn't find on our last visit.   A friend gave me the correct coordinates . A short hill climb (just 150m of climb) to exercise Mr Ps heart.  I'm interested to read that "on our last visit" I was doing hill climbing rehab for my hip.
The Blip is the view on the way back down to the layby on the A6 that you can see in the photo. And yes we did find the geocache this time.
