Final Farewell
I said I wouldn’t blip every day, and what I had in mind was to blip positive news to share, or special events, momentous occasions. That kind of thing. Well today, was the final farewell for Andy, and by now many of you will feel you know him almost as well as his nearest and dearest.
Today, with a crem bursting at the seams, as hundreds of Andy’s friends joined his loving family, to pay their last respects, I knew it was going to be a blip day.
A day to celebrate the very full life of our inspirational friend, who has touched so many lives.
A day to learn even more about the incredible life he lead.
A day to consider the life we currently lead and think about the words of wisdom Andy chose to leave with us, as spoken by Polly, in the dedication to her much loved husband.
Ultimately a day to help us make life choices.
The very full service brimmed.with heartfelt tributes. There was laughter, there were tears. There was pride and every other emotion. It brought us back together with our oldest scouting and guiding friends, and we have Andy to thank for that. We met people from school days, we reminisced.
The healing of heartbreak will take a long time, but boy was this man loved. I can see him puffing out his chest, grinning and saying with confidence ‘yep, that’s me’
Rest in peace Andrew, there will never be another you.
