Easter girlies!

As you can see we are now in Bath but this morning we were singing in the Piece Hall in Halifax. ( Piece Hall as in cloth pieces, historically where woollen cloth would be sold.) You can see it in the blip for 9-04-24 here
A special occasion as today would have been Anne Lister’s 233rd birthday! If you can’t quite remember her she featured in Gentleman Jack, Sally Wainright’s relatively recent production based on the life of Anne Lister from Shibden Hall.
There were lots of people watching waiting to put flowers on her statue, many of whom were American. We were here two years ago, unaware of the birthday that had been the previous day and I blipped Anne’s statue covered in flowers.
We were there very early and although damp it wasn’t too bad. We had an opening speech and then a bell rang for everyone to place thier flowers round the statue. Then the Anne Lister singers sang Mozart’s Ave Verum and Handel’s Alleluia chorus followed by us!  We were about two minutes songs in when the heavens opened!
It did ease off before we’d finished but we did get pretty wet. An interesting experience non the less.
We didn’t hang around as we had the long journey ahead of us. Lots of heavy showers along the way but brighter weather when we arrived.

As ever the girls were pleased to see us. They loved the ballerina bunnies though initially Jude took the one in the cream dress that Eda wanted but then they agreed to swap dresses and all was well ( they are so funny they could just have swapped bunnies !)

In the blip with the bunnies they are wearing the summer clothes I brought them. I wasn’t sure how well they would go down but they really like the ‘skorts’ - skirts with shorts underneath! I did know they’d love the dogs on them though.

A full day but a good one and a few more good days ahead of us to share with the family.
