Fibre-ating

Thank you everyone for the stars and hearts for the work of nature yesterday -- I actually made it to page 1 of Popular, which I am not at all used to.

That was nature's work, today's blip is human effort. This team have been meandering round the village laying fibre-optic cable for the last few weeks. Well, I say "laying" -- in the square they are just trailing them among the spaghetti of airborne wires that are already there. It was announced for September, but maybe it will be earlier than that at this rate. Although there are still a lot of dangling wires unconnected to anything.

Meanwhile the roads are being dug up apace to renew the sewage and water network. Getting in and out of the village has become a puzzling maze, as a road that was passable yesterday may not be today. Now the whole of the avenue of plane trees is closed to traffic, so the only access is via the narrow back road, or one of the dirt tracks through the vines to Fabrezan.

The weather is a bit wild, sunshine and showers, but the wind has changed, so hopefully we've seen the last of the Saharan sand for now.
