The Pensioner

Fruitmarket

Farewell Peter Higgs, the man who predicted some sort of very tiny something which was indeed found years later. For which he was awarded the Nobel Prize and more notably, immortalised in song by Nick Cave.

Have you ever heard about the Higgs Boson blues?
I'm goin' down to Geneva, baby
Gonna teach it to you
Who cares, who cares what the future brings?

Who cares indeed. We moseyed round some arty stuff in the rain - first to the Netherbow for a very small scale exhibition celebrating cooking, then to the Fruitmarket where we took in the Martin Boyce retrospective. Five stars in the Guardian! And of course the Turner Prize under his belt. I can only assume that these things are considerably easier to obtain than a Nobel Prize.
Later The Darkest Days on BBC by Lyse Doucet which was a bit of a failure if it was intending to look at the Gaza war after six months in its totality but it did include an Israeli film, Black Dawn: Testimonies from the Nova festival massacre; my word, that won’t be quickly forgotten.
