Manchester Tennis And Racquet Club

There's a scene at the beginning of one of the Pixar movies, I think it's 'Up', that shows a little house, the kind that belongs out in the suburbs, drowned amongst and dwarfed by skyscrapers.

Manchester feels like it's getting a bit that way to me; plenty of quaint little places, but increasingly crowded by huge new developments, like the awful towers designed by the one-trick ponies at SimpsonHaugh.

Neighbouring Salford is much better, despite the flurry of developments nested in the crook of Trinity Way and Chapel Street.

Things look a bit more ominous around the Greengate area, just to the north of our office, but you can still find interesting nooks and crannies, like the Manchester* Tennis And Racquet Club, which I passed while having a catch up with Steve on the phone, this afternoon.

*Still in Salford, though.
