I had a 10.30am ticket for the ascent of the belltower at The Mezquita, so that and a following lazy alfresco cortado at a local cafe took care of most of the morning.

And then a couple of hours in the sun on the terrace back at base with my book took the day up to....well, let's just say that we weren't really in a rush so by the time we were finishing lunch out somewhere it was well after four. How very European of us.

A great wander around the back streets well off the main drag and then we ended up at Cordoba's Museo Arqueologico. A splendid €1.50 worth! I wasn't expecting that much from it truth be told but it was all very impressive and highly educational, expect an appearance on Mastermind from me soon - specialist subject: The History of Hispania And Al-Andalus.

Cordoba has been great, a lovely three nights here. Tomorrow we catch the train up to Madrid for three nights there. We're expecting a whole new Spanish experience in the capital for sure.
