The previously hidden corner of the garden

Today's blip shows the sun and the blue sky that we've had for a few days. It looks glorious but what the picture doesn't show is that it is cold, really cold. Like the previous few days the temperature has been below freezing with a very chill wind coming from the north or east. Working outside in this weather, well wrapped up, is ok, but it would be lovely to be able to actually sit outside and enjoy this sun.
For the first time this year we took the camper van out for a trip. It was a rather short trip to the recycling centre, and we used the van because we could get a lot more into it than we could get into our car. Okay, it's not a very romantic destination but it is the first trip of 'Arry in 2024!
We are still feeding the birds, and a couple of days back the nature program on the radio encouraged us to carry on for a bit longer. The migrants have arrived but because of the cold weather, because the snow is only melting very slowly, there really is very little for many of them to eat. So we'll give them support for another few days.
I'd better mention that fallen tree in my blip. It used to be our apple tree but it died a few years back. Early this winter it fell over and I suppose the whole root structure had rotted away. Once the snow has gone I'll be cutting it up for firewood.
Before the forest was recently cut down this was something of a hidden corner but now it sits there, out in the open, soaking up that cold, cold sun.
