On the way up

There were two of these emerging from the pond today - they're broad bodied chasers - & usually in years gone by they've come up in May. The nymphs can stay in ponds/water for 5 years, then they emerge climbing up a reed or stem, transform into their adult body & then the larger ones for example can last in adult form for 5 to 6 months - It's an amazing life cycle & these guys were around when the dinosaurs were - 300 million years ago - WOW!

Elgar takes the blip tonight...

Golden oldie

I've only got two canvases left to paint but am knackered. Have painted so many & even been to the gym! Tomorrow is headless chicken day, last full day before the start of Art Trek & I have a mountain of things to do! xxx
