Bishton Hall

I was brought up and went to school no more than 25 miles from here, but I’d never heard of it until a few weeks ago.

I decided to explore and was fascinated and so impressed. My blip is the sweet chestnut tree which is well over 450 years old. There is a row of 12 topiary apostles, and a classical temple…and so much more.

Bishton Hall is the home of the Hanson family. Charles is well known, an auctioneer who makes regular appearances on tv. He also holds valuations and sales here.

As well as the gardens, there are lovely little shops selling “pre loved” odds and ends, and a friendly and excellent tea shop with home made cakes.

My extra shows a statue rescued from the skip. He used to have a female companion ( who wasn’t battered and damaged). She was sold: he now sits in state just outside one of the lovely shops.

The other extra is of the house itself.

Its well worth Googling ( and then visiting.)
