Parade

Had to leave the hotel early this morning to head over to see the tulip parade in a local village. I was under the impression that we had a seat to sit and watch the floats go by, but this wasn’t the case. We were dropped off at the far end of the village and then had to walk back to find a coffee house to wait for an hour for the parade to arrive. It was cold and windy outside so not great for mum to have to stand for an hour and we were both a bit disappointed by the parade as we were expecting something a bit grander and bigger like the Lords Mayor parade instead of a local one. Still the float were very impressive and mum got given a tulip. Back into the bus to head to Amsterdam for a boat trip. We were dropped off outside the Heineken Experience and some of the others went off to explore, we decided to go to the café on the corner to get some food with some of the others from the group and were lucky to get a table when we walked in. We had a nice burger and sit down, as mum wouldn’t have been able to walk far. Boat ride was nice around the canals of Amsterdam. Got dropped off at the airport with 5 hours to kill. Collected the wheelchair with no issues and had an easy trip through security as a result. Had a drink and then bought some cheese for home before walking to the gate. Plane arrived back and we had to get a bus to the terminal, typical Scottish efficiency, as mum was the last one off the plane and they wanted her to stand on the bus back to the terminal, fortunately we managed to get a seat but it would have been better if they had reserved a seat for her and the other person in a wheelchair. Long day but the dogs were pleased to see us when we got back.
